Consumer Federation Statement on Election of John Pérez as Assembly Speaker

Statement of Richard Holober, Executive Director of the Consumer Federation of California on the election of John Pérez as incoming Speaker of the California Assembly:

John Pérez is a superb choice for Speaker of the California State Assembly. John is a staunch advocate for justice and opportunity for all Californians, on the job, in the marketplace and in the community. I’ve known John for thirteen years and I have always been impressed by his keen intellect, his personal skills, and his native ability to get to the heart of the matter.  

Californians will benefit from a Democratic leader who can move beyond the smoking tent, and take the campaign for budget fairness to the people. John Pérez has the instincts of an organizer. With a five year horizon, John Pérez is the perfect choice for this tough assignment.
